It is a groundwater lake that has no inlets or outlets, which ensures that the lake is not supplied with pesticides and agricultural chemicals. Therefore, it always appears with very clear water. The bottom conditions are very variable. There are large deep faults down to approx. 20m depth. There are underwater islands, artificial rock reefs, places with muddy bottoms, while in other places there are very coarse rocks on the bottom. There are also several shallow lagoons, where the depth is only a few meters and the water gets very warm in the summer. Blue Rock Specimen has been around for quite a few years now, as the first 50 sturgeon were released back in 2007. Blue Rock was a pioneer in the field at the time and was the first lake to receive permission to release sturgeon in Denmark. Since then, sturgeon fishing has grown year by year and sturgeon are now found in many waters throughout the country. With Blue Rock Specimen fishing, we are trying to create a completely unique fishery for a wide range of sport fish. We ensure that we have the right fish and not too many, as it is only the “perfect fish” that we value. If the stock is too large, the competition for food will be too great, which will result in hollow and skinny fish, which are in no way attractive. We also do not want a reasonable growth rate on skinny fish, and it is a clear goal that the fish should have a natural growth rate. In some lakes, the fish are fed excessively or there is an excessively large fish population (biomass), which causes the lakes to become so nutrient-rich that they grow into algae, resulting in murky water. We will do everything we can to avoid polluting our lakes because the experience of fighting a big fish in completely clear water is much better than if you only see the fish when it has come ashore. So it is a balancing act to ensure many and big fish, but at the same time to have completely clean water. –But it is better to catch two big perfect fish than seven smaller and ugly fish!
